Today’s users expect more from capital goods than just simple operation. The HMI design should be intuitive and make work easier. But it should also create the same positive experience that users know and expect from consumer products. Franz shows how well thought-out UX design supports operation, brand identity and productivity and what special features need to be considered in user-centered HMI design in mechanical and plant engineering. He will also share exciting practical examples in which UX methods have been successfully implemented: For example, in the design of an HMI for packaging machines or in the implementation of a digital assistant in sheet metal processing, UI design for tower cranes or indoor localization systems, etc.

The European Data Act will come into force in 2025. The aim of this regulation is to ensure fair access to and use of data. Every product that generates data should make it available. In the webinar, Steffen Neumann sheds light on how data can be visualized in order to present complex information in a simple and understandable way. In doing so, he addresses key questions: Which forms of presentation are suitable? How can accessibility be guaranteed? And how do data visualizations generate real added value for users? From the happy path to the inclusive journey: In product development, we often start by focusing on the ideal user. However, if this so-called “happy path” is not developed further due to time pressure or budget, the product excludes many user groups, as this approach is based exclusively on the ideal target group. It is therefore important to develop an understanding of a responsible design process in order to identify potential problems in the design of digital products, avoid discrimination and integrate inclusive, protective functions into products and services. In their webinar, our UX experts Michelle and Stefanie will show you how you as a designer can get started with this topic.

More usability findings with the same budget? It’s possible! User research expert Jan introduces you to our innovative method that makes usability tests more efficient. Together we will take a look at the importance of user research in the user-centered design process and focus on usability tests. You will learn how our method differs from the classic approach, how we can use it to increase the number of optimization approaches per test and what other advantages it brings. The webinar is primarily aimed at people with project responsibility – regardless of whether you are already conducting user research or just starting out.

What requirements does the German Accessibility Improvement Act (BFSGV) formulate? What approaches are there to effectively design accessible digital services? And how does accessibility influence UX design and the development process of digital products? In her session, Stefanie will give an introduction to digital accessibility: she will show how companies can not only comply with legal requirements by integrating accessibility principles, but also expand their reach and positive social impact. You will also learn how to integrate accessibility requirements into the UX process and what to look out for in the practical implementation of accessible design.

How do you successfully integrate user-centric processes into teams and companies? A successful transformation depends not only on specialist knowledge and the right tools, but above all on the behavior and mindset of employees. Simply filling a UX position is not enough for a company to become user-centric, nor is the mere introduction of new processes. The switch to user-centricity requires new behaviors and mindsets from everyone involved. Behavioral design methods help to initiate the necessary behavioral changes in a targeted manner. In her presentation, Lisa introduces the individual steps of the Behavioral Centered Change Process and uses examples from her everyday project work to show how behavior can be changed in a structured way.

In his crash course, Jan presents which work steps of the user-centered design process can be supported by AI and which aspects need to be considered when using AI tools. This is because each phase of user-centered design has its own challenges and the integration of UX design into development varies depending on the manufacturer and product. There is no clear answer to this diversity. However, there are criteria for selecting AI tools for user-centered design and principles for how AI can be integrated into our work processes in order to provide benefits for everyone involved.
